Seattle Pie Company: Cash or Check Only as of Today

Just an FYI:  Seattle Pie Company:  Cash or Check Only as of Today

Yesterday I used my card to pay for the pies  at Seattle Pie Company in Magnolia for my work party and today when I pulled it out to pay for a birthday pie, I was directed (politely) to the CASH or CHECK only sign.  It seems literally overnight and midweek Seattle Pie Company changed their policy in regard to paying the tab.  I have no idea why, but there are a couple cute quotes on the sign to soften your surprise if you forget or just don’t know about the policy change.

My two cents:  The pie is worth it.

Break out the cash and get the pie. If you forget, there is an ATM across the street and about 5 more within a couple blocks.

Wheeler Street Kitchen

Here’s an idea…go try dining at the newer place to eat in the Magnolia Village. Chef Greg Campbell’s kitchen specializes in good honest food. Salads like romaine maytag blue cheese vinaigrette, smoked bacon & apple and arugula with lemon vinaigrette & mancheggo cheese. Soup’s range from butternut squash to clam chowder. There are sandwiches like roasted pork & chicken salad and burgers. There is an Alley Hour on Tuesdays and Fridays 3:30 – 5:30 with specials $1 off Beer & Wine. Fonte coffee and assorted Harney & Sons tea is on the menu. Sweets are bread pudding and chocolate pot de creme which is out of my area of expertise.

Halloween is approaching so don’t forget that Magnolia businesses open there doors to trick or treating. Families are encouraged to visit store fronts around the village and pick up candy for the holiday. There are many homes within walking distance of the village with walk scores exceeding 80 points. www.cooperjacobs.com  While exploring Magnolia, maybe a curious visit to Wheeler Street Kitchen is the stop you need to make.

Wheeler Street Cafe

Great Food In the Heart of Magnolia!

If a tasty lunch is what you’re looking for, then Wheeler Street Cafe in Seattle’s Magnolia neighborhood is where it’s at!

Located in the alley-like Wheeler Street just south of the Magnolia Playfield, Wheeler Street Cafe is a gem of a place where soup and sandwiches are the king and queen.  Proprietor, Gregory Campbell’s (formerly the executive chef for Kirkland’s Third Floor Fish Cafe) original focus for the restaurant was on making out of this world soup – special soup – soup to dream about.  The 1200′ space that the cafe is located in was too big just for soup so…..then came sandwiches.  Yum!

One of the many advantages of living in Seattle’s prestigious neighborhood, Magnolia, is the pedestrian village filled with shops, banks and some wonderful restaurants.
