Magnolia Thriftway Ownership Changing Hands
Metropolitan Market To Purchase Magnolia ThriftwayMagnolia Thriftway Ownership Changing Hands Metropolitan Market is taking over the Magnolia Thriftway – I don’t think it was the increasing pressure of liquor sales now that Washington State has opened up private sales or the new grocery bag laws that influence businesses to charge for bags now. I think it is just possible that Thriftway owner, Jim Penhollow has decided to move on to another chapter in his life.Personally, I’m excited to see a new name on the commercial Magnolia property, but I will miss the personable staff and the smiles that are shared at the grocery store. Having served on the Our Lady of Fatima school volunteer staff and adding up all the Thriftway receipts the Fatima families collected…I appreciate Thriftway’s commitment to contributing a percentage of sales to the school’s budget. If we spent money at Thriftway, the grocery gave money back to the school. My daughter went to school at Fatima and I truly appreciate the generosity exhibited by Thriftway.Magnolia is the sort of neighborhood where people recognize their friends and neighbors and the staff at Thriftway certainly do a great job supporting that sense of community and genuine comfort. Metropolitan Market certainly has high standards and excellent food choices and is very friendly.Queen Anne lost the original Metropolitan Market located on Queen Anne Avenue. It’s wonderful that Magnolia will benefit from the Metropolitan Market business philosophy and high standards. Magnolia is a place that can support new businesses coming here and these exciting changes will make our neighborhood stronger for sure.Comments are closed. |
